Fun Milwaukee Things To Do This Weekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marquette chapter.

Just because Valentine’s Day is over, doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! Get off campus this weekend to break the Marquette bubble and see a sporting event, something musical or a dance show.

Sports

Head over to the UWM Panther Arena right downtown to see the Milwaukee Admirals take on the Texas Stars for Benjamin Franklin Bobblehead night! It’s Saturday at 1 p.m., and Disney Channel actress Miranda May will be at the game to sign autographs and pose for pictures as well.

Music

Sunset Playhouse is showing “People Will Say We’re In Love,” featuring love music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, this weekend only. Head over to 800 Elm Grove Road in Elm Grove, WI Friday or Saturday at 8 p.m., or Sunday at 3 p.m., and listen to classics from “Oklahoma!,” “Carousel” and “South Pacific.”

The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts is hosting a Latin music show by artists Orkesta Mendoza and Las Cafeteras. Hear music ranging from merengue and ranchera to Afro-Caribbean Son Jarocho music. Tickets range from $49-71 and the event is Friday from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.

At St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, catch Flanders Recorder Quartet perform their show, “The Final Chapter: 30 Years” at 5:00 p.m. Listen to music transcribed from organ and traverso from the ensemble returning to Milwaukee for its last time.

Listen to the musical styles of bluegrass, blues, folk-revival, indie and roots country at the Cedarburg Cultural Center at their show Saturday from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. This show is a part of the concert series, “Rebels & Renegades,” which focuses on Americana music. Fun vibes, full bar, and free parking.

Dance

See a ballet show at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, Friday from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Jessica Lang, the performer, has been called “a master of visual composition” by Dance Magazine, so the show is sure to impress.
