Throughout the week Marist students are constantly rushing from one side of campus to the other, making it nearly impossible to track them down. But once Friday rolls around if you want to find a Marist student there is only one place to look, and that one place is Darby O’Gills. Darby’s is known for being the spot where all Marist Students go on Fridays to have a good time with their friends and to most importantly, dance. But a successful night at Darby’s relies heavily on the music. Here and there you will hear a new song but we all know Darby’s has their classics, and we all know we have our favorites. But what does our favorite say about us?
Mr Brightside by The Killers
You are definitely the life of the party. You love being the center of attention and jumping in the middle of all of your friends while they are dancing in hopes of getting on their Snapchat story. You wait all night for the DJ to play this song so you can scream every lyric while jumping all over the dance floor.
Ignition by R.Kelly
You are the cool one in your friend group. You have a way with words and everyone wants to know you. Although you won’t be seen busting out too many crazy moves right away, when this song comes on you listen to R. Kelly and bounce back and forth with your friends–and of course look cool while doing it.
Closer by the Chainsmokers
You are almost as basic as this song. Before you got to Darby’s you definitely spent about a half hour taking pictures with your friends that included fake laughing in order to get a candid. But hey, at least you embrace it.
All Night Longer by Sammy Adams
You are the crazy one in your friend group. You wait all week for Friday to come around so that you can get together with your friends and do things that will make great stories the next morning.
Single Ladies by Beyonce
Your goal at Darby’s is to just have a good time with all of your girlfriends. You just want a night to forget about all of the boy drama in your life and to embrace your girl power. Not only are you sassy, but you know you are the total package and aren’t afraid to flaunt it.

Everyone refers to you as the queen of your friend group. You don’t take anything from anyone and everyone looks to you for approval. When this song comes on you make everyone get out of the way and put on a full performance just like Kesha would want you to.
Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond
You have no problem going up to the kid who sits behind you in your 9:30 Biology class and having a full conversation with them while you wait at the bar. You are super friendly and when this song comes on, you will reach out and touch hands with anyone who is around you.
All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey
You are the extra one in your friend group. You are the type of person who will start decorating for Christmas months in advance and start listening to Christmas music in July. This song is only acceptable to be played after November break and any earlier is just, well, extra.
iSpy by KYLE and Lil Yachty
Flirty is your middle name. Whenever you go out, you scope out the area and then keep your eyes on one cutie all night. You always have the confidence needed to make the first move.
But of course every Marist students favorite song is the one that Joe plays in his cab which is the cherry on top of a Friday night well spent at Darby’s.
