Self Care Tips for People Who Are Too Busy For It

College is hectic! Between going to class, doing homework, attending campus activities and being involved in a club (or two), a super busy girl can find it hard to find time for herself. You’ve got to take care of business, but you can’t forget to take care of yourself! It may be hard to find time for a mental break, so here is a short list of self-care activities for the busiest person.

Take a nap

Are you sleep deprived from those all-night study sessions? Take a quick 15-minute nap to help you regain your strength and recharge you for the rest of the day!

Bake or cook something

Good food makes for a good mood. I’m no Julia Child but popping a tray of ready-bake cookie dough into the oven can instantly brighten a dull day! The warm smell of baking cookies will instantly melt your troubles away. While the cookies are baking, you can even finish some homework!

Do an easy craft

Terrariums, sand jars, tassel garlands, beaded bracelets, key chains and ornaments are easy crafts to take your mind off of the stress. The crafts listed above are affordable and fast so you can take a DIY break and then get back to the grind!

A feel-good flick does just what it says it’ll do: make you feel good! Movies can inspire you to carry on even when it all seems hopeless, give you a good laugh when you are feeling down or convince you that love exists when your heart hurts. So grab your squad, turn on Legally Blonde and get to work on yourselves (or homework)!

Card and board games are a fun way to exercise your brain muscles! These games all involve strategy which can help you think outside the box. Who doesn’t love a game of Monopoly or Cards Against Humanity? A game night will totally help you and your roommates relax!

Take a walk around campus

Nature is awesome! Even a few minutes outside can dramatically change your mood. Take a break from that library study session and take a quick walk around campus! Who knows, you might even discover a secret building or a faster route to your English class.

Chat with an old friend, your parents, or close relatives

Talking to someone can relieve tons of stress! Reaching out to your family and friends can help you process the situation and organize your thoughts. They might even offer solutions to that will solve all your problems. Plus, catching up with a friend could help them through a tough time too.

Skincare is crucial! A healthy body needs healthy skin. Face masks are a great way to maintain your skin without an excessively complicated skincare routine. Most masks take 20 minutes or less, so you can put one on while studying for those finals! Knowing all the answers to your Economics final and having great skin: that’s a win, win!
