A Review of Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Makeup and How to Get the Look

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

The Met Gala is my favorite red carpet to watch because the celebrities always bring their fashion A-game. This Met Gala was no exception! With that being said, the highlight of the event was watching Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, Mario, reveal the exclusive products that he used to achieve Kim’s gorgeous look for the night.

When Kim walked onto the red carpet, the first thing I noticed was her flawless makeup look. Her Vivienne Westwood dress was beautiful, but her makeup was the real statement.

Pre-Met Gala, Mario posted the Chanel products that he was planning on using for her look. This got me excited because I have used all of the products, except the brand new eye shadow collection that Kim got to wear the night before the collection was dropped!

Post-Met Gala, Kim’s makeup look was revealed, and I was so excited to learn that she wore my favorite Chanel products! Chanel released their new flawless long wear matte foundation this past winter and I had to buy it right away. This replaced my all-time favorite Chanel Foundation Perfection Lumiere, so my expectations were high. The new formula has a beautiful matte finish and lasts until it is removed. So, it was no surprise that Kim wore it to the Met Gala because this foundation photographs beautifully. Kim wore Chanel Le Volume Mascara, my favorite Chanel mascara that I use every day! Although I must admit, her nude lipstick was my favorite part of the look. Kim wore Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in Libre. I love the matte finish of this lipstick and Libre was just released in the Spring Coco Codes Collection. Every time I go to the Chanel counter I always pick it up and put it down – now I have to have it because the nude color is so sexy! The eye shadow look is listed in the picture above and if you love a natural brown eye look, I highly recommend buying the new formulas because the colors are so pigmented and luxurious!

Vogue even recognized Kim for one of the best beauty looks on the carpet!
