Reasons Reading Books is Important

Here is an indisputable fact: reading is important. 

Whether or not you enjoy spending time browsing in bookstores, libraries, or between the pages of a really good read is entirely up to you, but if you decide that books are not for you you are robbing yourself of something extremely important. 

Why? 

Because reading has the capability to change you. Have you ever read a really incredible book and it’s like night and day, before and after? Has a book ever changed the way that you thought about something? Well, if not, you’re not reading the right books. Because books are powerful. They are important and they can become life altering. When you open the pages, you never know what you may find. You may find words that you relate to in ways that you did not find imaginable before. You may find that the book connects to you, or that you feel like the character in the book. It’s a powerful feeling, realizing that literacy has the ability to connect us all.

Besides that, books also really spark your imagination. No matter what your major is it is important to have an imagination as this can assist you in a variety of ways. Reading simply taps into that and really expands your horizons.

In addition to all of these reasons, reading makes you more empathetic. You are able to understand what others go through as you read the characters’ stories. This enables you to be a better friend to your friends and others in your life. 

Reading is so important. What’s your reason for reading? If you don’t have one yet, then get one by simply picking up the nearest book and giving it a try. You never know what you will find!
