Have a Fun Spring Break Without Catching a Flight

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

It’s that time of the year again: spring break! The weather is getting increasingly warmer, the days are getting sunnier, and you can’t wait until it’s 80 degrees again everyday and you can take a swim in the pool, go to the beach, and enjoy the dog days of summer. But before we get there, we have to make it through the rest of spring semester (which shockingly, is half over!). If you’re not catching a flight to a faraway place this spring break, here are five ways to enjoy the time away from school at home!

1. Spend time with a loved one who you don’t get to see at school. Whether this means your family, your grandma, or a close friend who’s home for break at the same time as you, make sure that you spend time with the people you love before you head back to campus to finish the semester! You can watch a movie together, go to a sporting event, or look around at the mall.

2. Take a day trip. You’ve been wanting to try that new restaurant in the city, so why not take this ideal opportunity to do so?! The world is your oyster on spring break, so enjoy it! Make the most out of the time you have away from exams and papers and classes.

3. Visit a friend at a different school. If one of your friends goes to school in the local area and you don’t mind driving (and they’re not on their spring break too) why not visit?! It can be fun to explore a different campus!

4. Get things lined up for the summer. If you’ve been putting off internship or job applications because you’ve been balancing meetings, studying for midterms, and more, take the time to submit those applications and get your summer plans all squared away.

5. Take time for yourself. It’s great if you have the opportunity to work a few days, but don’t stress yourself out! School work is stressful enough, so be sure to catch up on what makes you happy when you’re home. Whether you relax by spending time reading, or by simply sleeping, be sure to catch a moment to breathe.
