Name: Michael Fisher
Year: Junior
Major: Finance with a minor in Communications
Hometown: Dix Hills, New York
HC: You sang a slowed down version of “Latch” by Disclosure and Sam Smith for Love in the Afternoon with Anna Durkin. How did you come up with that unique take?
MF: We looked up different arrangements online and found one that Voice Avenue does, which is a cover band that does a lot of different mainstream songs. And they recently put out “Latch” and we listened to the arrangement and we liked it so we went with that and then made it our own.
HC: How long have you been playing guitar? Do you come from a musical family?
MF: I’ve been playing guitar since the summer going into my sophomore year of high school. My mom loves to sing and she played piano when she was younger but I played trumpet in middle school until my sophomore year of high school and then I picked up the guitar. I was more the musical one in the family and then my brother starting picking up music after me, so now he plays, too.
HC: What’s your favorite Marist memory?
MF: It would probably be getting the call letting me know that I got into Time Check. That was a pretty cool experience.
HC: What’s the most attractive quality in a girl?
MF: Personality. They have to have some life to them. Humor – I think that’s a big thing.
HC: If you could do anything on campus without any penalty, what would it be?
MF: We bought a blowup pool the other day so I would like to fill up the pool and just sit outside with beers and all my friends around without being penalized for it.
