March is Women’s History Month, a celebration that highlights the achievements of women in every realm: Arts, politics, science, medicine and education. In addition to supporting the powerful women in your everyday life, consider donating to organizations that are working to pave the way for Women. Whether that’s through equal economic opportunity, reproductive rights or the end of gender-based violence, there’s an organization there for you. Here are five nonprofits to donate to this Women’s History Month.

To empower women of color, immigrants and victims of domestic abuse….

The ACLU Women’s Rights project, co-founded by Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 1972, pushed to change and systematically reform institutions that perpetuate discrimination against women. They have four core focuses: Employment, violence against women, criminal justice and education. Though many organizations occupy a strong role in the women’s movement, the ACLU Women’s Rights Project has been a principal group responsible for systematic legal reform.

If you’re passionate about change, donate to the ACLU to fuel fights for women in courts, statehouses and nationwide.

To help guarantee reproductive rights…

Securing reproductive rights is crucial to achieving gender equality. The NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation fights to protect and expand these rights at every level of government—whether that means putting pressure on lawmakers and corporations, educating the public about current events or changing the conversation ahead of monumental Supreme Court decisions. If you’re passionate about protecting and guaranteeing female reproductive rights, donate today to the NARAL Pro-Choice Foundation.

To help women internationally…

Women face hardships around the world, but especially in developing countries. Global nonprofit organizations can play key roles in promoting female empowerment and helping those in disadvantaged countries who lack resources.

  1. Global Fund for Women
The Global Fund for Women supports and advocates for groups led by women who demand equal rights in their communities. This organization fights for some of the most important ingredients for women’s human rights: reproductive rights, freedom from violence, leadership and more.
  2. New Light
New Light is an organization that provides children of sex workers with a safe haven. The organization is located deep inside the red-light district of Kalighat, Kolkata. The organization provides education, healthcare, nutritional support, a recreational facility, HIV/AIDS care, income opportunities for the mothers and residential care. New Light also fights against gender-based violence.

To encourage education…Interested in a non-profit passionate about keeping women learning globally? Well, CAMFED believes that every child has the right to a safe education and that they can help tackle poverty by providing education to young women. They focus on women because they know that girls are more likely to drop out of school due to early marriage and/or pregnancy. As an international nonprofit, the organization is looking for systemic change to help young girls succeed. They have designed a unique model to help girls become independent and influential women. Since 1993, CAMFED has supported more than 4.1 million students to attend both primary and secondary schools.
