Top Five Cheap Makeup Must Haves

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

As a makeup lover, I could spend hours in Sephora, roaming around and tester every highlighter and liquid lipstick. Unfortunately, sometimes spending $50 on a lipstick is not possible. After doing some research myself, watching Youtube videos, and testing products, I have found some of my favorite products at just the right price.

1) E.L.F. Studio HD Mattifying Balm- $6

have combination skin year round and my oily spots can definitely ruin having a flawless makeup look. If you have bigger pores and oily skin, this product is a must have for you. It helps soften and close those pores to give you a truly refined look. At just $6, this mattifying balm really can compete with the higher end primers and mattifiers on the market.

2)The Nubian Eye Shadow from Juvia’s Place- $21.15

This beautiful eyeshadow palette has a wonderful array of colors that are highly pigmented and of fantastic quality. I have used this palette for both dramatic and everyday looks. If you use the promo code “Nikkie” from Youtube’s very own NikkieTutorials, you will receive 10% bringing your total to $21.15. These are the best eyeshadows I have used and I think a worthwhile investment.

3) Dope Taupe Pencil from ColourPop- $5

My eyebrows are my everything. Eyebrows can completely make or break your entire look. This pencil is so cheap but works so well. The pencil glides on extremely smoothly compared to other pencils that feel sharp to the touch. This is a great dupe for ABH eyebrow pencils and I would prefer it anytime over ABH. The twist wire brush is perfect to soften my eyebrows in the corners. With this pencil, I don’t even need to use a pomade.

4) 10 Piece Oval Brush Set- $30

I’m never going to spend $50 on a single brush. I wouldn’t even spend $20 without feeling bad. Thankfully, I found a great 10 piece brush set on Amazon that dupes the Artis oval brushes for only $30. These brushes are soft, smooth, and extremely dense making my makeup application effortless. No streaks or weird blending, just perfection. The handles on these brushes are of cheaper quality so it’s important to go with a light hand. This set has brought my makeup to a new level.

5) NYX Lip Lingerie- $7

This liquid lipstick has a truly magical formula. I could eat a cheeseburger and not worry if I’m getting lipstick everywhere. It’s super long lasting and very comfortable on the lips. I have been on the hunt for a lipstick that could withstand a long day, and this is right on the money.  Just make sure to test out the colors if possible because some colors are not as flattering as others.

I hope that this guide is helpful for all the girls out there that are just like me- wanting to look good without the stress of spending your entire paycheck.
