A Statement from the HCMC Team: Supporting Black Lives Matter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

To our readers,

The Her Campus at Manhattan team is writing today to address the growing division in our country and serve as an outlet for those interested in being part of the change. On behalf of the Her Campus Media organization at large, we are supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Her Campus is an organization built on inclusivity and we strive to support and lift each other up.

We are thankful to have a platform that allows us to address topics such as this and speak up on issues that matter not only to our students, but to the world at large. We aim to use our power for the greater good and give a voice to the voiceless. Now is not the time to stay silent and we plan to use our platform to educate, support, and work towards creating a better future.

We, as an inclusive community, offer our support and stand in solidarity with the Black community and marginalized groups. Her Campus Media has compiled a list of resources if you’re looking to contribute to the cause. Lastly, we believe writing is a powerful tool for change. Your words matter. You are entitled to an opinion. We want Her Campus to be a platform for you. If you feel compelled to do so, send in opinion pieces regarding this topic because we believe your voice should be heard.

Enough is enough. We hear you, and we stand with you.

With love,

The Her Campus at Manhattan Team

As an avid lover of all things writing related, Christine is a born story-teller. She is a junior at Manhattan College majoring Public Relations and minoring in Marketing. When she’s not writing, you can find her exploring NYC, binge watching The Office, or enjoying a good cup of tea. She joined Her Campus after transferring to MC and absolutely fell in love with it! She is currently the Campus Correspondent of her chapter, and hopes her articles can entertain and inspire women everywhere. After college, she plans to continue writing and hopes to publish a book one day. Be sure to check out her college lifestyle blog Christineeve.com!
