St. Patty’s Day Survival Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

Fellow Jaspers, don’t you fret, St. Patty’s Day is right around the corner! This year it looks like the luck o’ the Irish is in store for us all  because the 17th falls under our Spring Break week. In other words, no need to contemplate on skipping class or getting under administration’s skin by getting rowdy or causing trouble. (Trust me, they’re just as content as you are). One less thing to stress… Here are a few tips and suggestions for the festive holiday!

Not Irish? No problem. It’s always a toughy trying to figure out what to wear for a social-outing with friends, but here’s a cute DIY top that’ll have people talking. Pick up a plain long sleeve and sew on sequined elbow patches (sport it with your fave leggings and boots). Comfy and cute, doesn’t get any better than that!

Boots and leggings will forever be in, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! #BasicButTrue However, who says you can’t add a little spunk to that St. Patty’s Day outfit? Shamrock boot cuffs are definitely a great accessory and simple to make. Just hand knit some cuffs and annex a green shamrock to each. You could even gather your girlfriends some time before the holiday and make it a fun crafts night, 2 for 2!

Makeup is EVERYTHING, every girl knows that, especially on a fun holiday like this one! Whether 5th ave parade or house party, bold and glitter are the way to go. Here are some cute makeup ideas and tutorials that’ll show off your green pride.

Schedule that manipedi ASAP because St. Patty’s is right around the corner and your nails have to look as fresh and fab as the rest of you. Here are some creative and absolutely adorable nail designs that’ll have all your girlfriends dying to know where and how. Don’t be afraid to paint them bright green and gold. The more festive, the better!

We all know the Irish could never turn down a pitcher of beer, but try changing it up this year with a Shamrock Shake Up (if you’re 21, of course). Pick up a shaker and put in some muddle mint leaves, simple syrup, lime juice, and some Absolut Miami. After shaking, strain it into a highball glass with ice, and top it with some side and garnish with mint sprig.

Ladies, want something a little more fun and girly? Can’t get any better than the Shamrock-a-rita. Throw some Sauza Blue Gold Tequila, melon liqueur, lime juice, and simple sugar into a shaker. Then strain into a glass full of ice and top with a lime wedge.

It’s not a holiday unless there’s some yummy treats involved.. Cupcakes and ice cream are always a bonus, but GREEN velvet cheesecake is a must! Click the link below to check out this simple and easy recipe. You wont regret it!

You can’t go wrong with these delicious marshmallow pops. They’re economical, easy to make, and look super cute adorned in green shamrock sprinkles and chocolate or decorated as mini pots of gold. Make enough for all your guests because they’ll definitely be coming back for seconds!
