If you’re a student at Manhattan College, chances are you were not able to escape all of the hype of the basketball team this week. Our men’s basketball team has made it for the second year in a row to the NCAA tournament! This week our “Campus Cutie” is Jasper player #0, Shane Richards, who is no stranger to the Manhattan College community.
Sarah: “What is your major at Manhattan College?”
Shane: “My major is business management.”
Sarah: “How are you and your team preparing for the big NCAA tournament?”
Shane: “We are preparing the same way we prepared for it last year. We are going to take it one practice at a time and get better from there.”
Sarah: “How did you feel when you were the first MC basketball player to reach the 200th 3 pointer?”
Shane: “When I hit the 200th 3 pointer, I didn’t even know I had accomplished that until a week later when I saw it on social media. It’s a great feeling to see your hard work pay off, but at the same time it’s just a record, and records are meant to be broken. I’m sure one day my record will be broken as well.”
Sarah: “What has been your best memory so far as a Jasper basketball player?”
Shane: “My favorite part has got to be playing Louisville in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. The atmosphere is like nothing else I have ever experienced.”
Sarah: “What is your favorite part about attending Manhattan College?”
Shane: “My favorite part of being a Jasper is definitely the student body. Our fans are the best in the MAAC by far, and it gives us athletes an edge whenever a team has to come play at Draddy.”
