How Jaspers Can Lead Tremendous Change this Earth Week

Jaspers can lead tremendous change this #EarthWeek. Here’s how:

From April 20-22, climate warriors from across the world come together to celebrate Earth Day 2021. The initiative comes as an effort to protect the Earth from man-made calamities and natural disasters. This environmental movement is a humanities initiative “towards a greener, more sustainable future that protects and supports every living thing on earth.” Here’s how we can help:

Plant a tree!

As a part of our Riverdale campus, we enjoy a perk most New York schools don’t have the luxury of - lots of green space! Ample spots to plant a seed and watch it blossom into a beautiful sapling. Plus you’ll leave your mark forever! Come back in a few years to see how much your baby has grown.

Use reusable bags

Lockes recently announced its plan to discontinue paper bags as an initiative to reduce waste on campus. As we remain closed for indoor dining, bring your delightful, green reusable bags with you when you come to pick up your food. Chic and handy these bags kill two birds with one stone.

Grab a reusable cup for your Starbucks

The Starbucks in Kelly offers a wide range of cold cups, water bottles and mugs at every price point. An added bonus, you can use your Dining or Jasper Dollars there! Get yours today.

Get outside

Take a stroll through Van Cortlandt Park, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the birds sing, appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature. Our Earth is a precious gift that we shouldn’t take for granted. As a young generation of leaders, it is our responsibility to protect and preserve and make it a better place for our future generations.
