Was it not just yesterday we were wearing shorts and sweatshirts in the sun? Now the autumn chill is back and it’s time to go into the back of our closets and find those cute jackets for fall. Need some help gathering options? HerCampus at Manhattan has you covered.

Here are my favorite jackets for fall outfits:

  • Jean Jacket

Everyone needs a jean jacket to pair with leggings, funky pants, or even a pair of jeans. If you like clothes to be baggier and cozier, one option is this Oversized Fur-lined Jean Jacket from Amazon. Another option if you like the cropped trendy look is this Frayed Cropped Button Up Light-Wash Jean Jacket also from Amazon. These jean jackets will keep you warm when it gets windy, but will also add style to your ‘fit’ instead of hiding it like other jackets.

  • Leather Jacket

A leather jacket adds a cool attitude to any outfit. If you do not want to spend the money on a real leather jacket, we’ve got you covered with a faux leather so you can still look like a bad ass biker chick. Target has this Cropped Faux Leather Jacket at a reasonable price. Pair it with jeans or a skirt to complete this fall look.

  • Corduroy Jacket

If leather and jeans are not your vibe, corduroy jackets are in and currently PacSun has a sale going on! This Corduroy Cropped ‘Shacket’ comes in brown, jade and blue to keep your arms warm, but still adding flair to your fall fit. Pair it with some jeans and a pair of booties to finish the style.

  • Flannel

You can never go wrong with a flannel because they never go out of style. Whether you find one at your local thrift store, like MyUnique on 234th, or your brother’s or boyfriend’s closet, an oversized one can just be what your outfit needs for some fall chic. Pair a flannel with jeans or leggings and a tank or a t-shirt for your go-to fall activity attire.

  • Cardigan

A favorite of many, including blondie Taylor Swift, a cardigan will keep you warm and cozy when there is an autumn breeze. H&M  has a collection of soft, reasonable V-neck buttoned cardigan sweaters to pair with jeans and a tank to get you through your day of classes.

  • Shawls and Scarves

A perfect fix to keep yourself warm and still accent your outfit can be wrapping a shawl or a scarf around your shoulders. These pieces are perfect for the changing climate and when you need to look business casual for a presentation or meeting. You can easily wrap a scarf around your head as a headband, use it as a belt or wear it as a shirt or shawl for modesty. Nordstrom Rack has a wide selection of scarves and shawls to pair with jeans, a skirt, or dress pants to keep you warm and stylish this fall season.
