From “You Seem Pretty Sad for A Girl So in Love” to “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and Taylor Swift’s weeding at Madison Square Garden, Summer 2026 was full of iconic pop culture moments. And just like we all have nostalgia for 2016, the Summer 2026 nostalgia is already hitting even before it ends. Now that a new semester has begun, let’s recap some unique Summer 2026 moments we’re already missing.
- “Go New York, Go New York, GO!” That’s right, New York’s favorite team, the Knicks, won the NBA Championship for the first time in 53 years. Not only was this a historic moment in NBA history, but the Knicks brought unity amongst New Yorkers, showing us what community is all about. From private watch parties to games projected on the sides of Manhattan brownstones and the unforgettable Knicks parade, every New Yorker transformed into a basketball fanatic—and a proud New York native.
- Speaking of the Knicks, we can’t forget about the courtside celebrity sightings during the finals—from a teary-eyed Timothee Chalamet to a supportive Kylie Jenner. And, of course, we cannot forget Taylor Swift, Alana and Este Haim and Mariska Hargitay courtside appearances at NBA finals game 4, who witnessed OG Anunoby’s spectacular comeback and win. As the Knicks fever slowly settled down, rumors of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden only seemed to spread. We’re all still wondering what the biggest celeb wedding looked like.
- Of course we can’t forget about one of our favorite celebs, Olivia Rodrigo, who released her third album on June 12, entitled “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.” To top it all off, Olivia even hosted Daisy Chain Fields, an all-female music festival, with proceeds going toward supporting women and young girls.
- While the Knicks might be New York’s favorite basketball team, Spider-Man is our favorite superhero. This summer was big for ‘Tomdaya’ fans with rumors of Tom Holland and Zendaya tying the knot while the two were on press tours for both “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
While Summer 2026 still isn’t over, we’re already missing our summer favs. Will there ever be such an iconic, pop-culture-filled summer again? We’ll have to wait until next year!
