As college students, our minds are all over the place and the amount of water you drink each day may not be on the top of your list of priorities. But what a lot of us don’t realize is that by not staying hydrated, we may actually be causing ourselves serious physical and mental instability. In turn, this can makes us perform poorly in all the other aspects of our lives. In fact, many of the problems we have can be solved, or at least improved, simply by rememebring to drink water. Here are five reasons everyone should be drinking enough water.
1. Health Issues
By not drinking enough water, we expose ourselves to more health issues such as heart attacks, kidney stones, UTIs and cancers.
2. Slow Metabolism and an Increased Appetite
Studies show that people who drink two to three cups of water before a meal will consume around 75-90 less calories. It’s also said that the amount of water you drink directly correlates with how easily and quickly you can burn off fat.
3.Wrinkles! Wrinkles! Wrinkles!
Stop and put down that $50 Clinique lotion because you already have an anti-aging fix and it’s free. Water not only hydrates you internally, but it also hydrates your physical apperance. Drinking water helps fill in wrinkles and keeps your skin glowing.
4.Task Completion
Dehydration has been said to cause the brain to not work at its full capacity, making it harder to complete tasks as quickly and easily as those who are properly hydrated.
5. Mood
Dehydrated people are also more likley to experience mood swings causing them to be angry, nauseous, exhausted, and confused.
Now the amount of water we should drink each day is a continuously debated topic. But from my understanding, we should be drinking about two liters of water a day to be properly hydrated. So, my question is: are you drinking enough water?
