What You Really Need For Your Next Disney Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

As a Florida Resident for almost 21 years and a frequent Disney goer, I believe I have a perfect list of things you really need to bring to a day at the Disney World theme parks.

The Bag

While purses are cute, I’ve found that they tend to get in the way and start to feel uncomfortable after a long day of walking around the park. For that, I highly recommend using a mini backpack. If you’re looking for a higher-end but affordable bag, take a look at Kate Spade. Their backpacks come in a variety of colors and designs that fits everything perfectly.

What Goes In The Bag

I am what they call a crazy bag lady: I love a good bag. I typically have two or three smaller make-up bags in my backpack. They are usually a make-up touch-up bag, an emergency/first aid, and extras. My touch-up bag has my lipstick for the day, make-up removing wipes, travel setting spray, blotting sheets, and a compact with a mirror. My emergency/first aid bag has things like band-aids, Neosporin, Advil, hand sanitizer, a few tampons and pads, and, the newest addition, an extra mask. The new COVID-19 guidelines require guests to wear a mask at all times except for when eating or drinking or in the designated mask-free zones. Lastly, my small extras bag where I put things like hair ties, safety pins, gum or mints, a pen, and a pair of socks.

Shoes

A very key must have especially in Disney, is comfortable shoes. If you have some super cute vans you just bought and want to wear them to Disney, I highly recommend you wear them at least 24 hours before your Disney day. If that fails, that’s why I have an emergency bag for situations like this. I love to wear Doc Martin boots to the parks, and I know that sounds crazy, but I find them really comfortable.

Protection From The Elements

Next is an obvious must-have in Florida: sunblock. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been burnt to a crisp at Disney. Especially if you are going to less shaded parks like Epcot. I like using the Sun Bum line for not only my body but also for my face and lips. Another must-bring having to do with weather is a rain poncho or umbrella, because in Florida it can be beautiful and sunny one minute and downpouring the next. I use a compact umbrella that is easy to store in my backpack.

I hope giving a little insight on what I do helps you have a smoother and more prepared Disney trip. Be on the look out for my next article on some very important theme park tips and tricks I have learned over the years!
