- Before Going To Bed, ReflectÂ
-
Reflecting can make you realize how much you have in your life. Think about your day, try and keep positive thoughts so you can go to bed feeling happy. For example, think about an accomplishment in the day. It can be making your bed or finishing a paper; no one is smaller than the other. If you can’t think of anything you did in the day, think of the past week and name three things you enjoyed in that week and how they made you happy. Think about the people in your life who are always cheering you on. All of these thoughts are a part of your life; adding joy and positivity to your day. Thinking about this will help you feel thankful before you go to bed. I don’t do this all the time, but even doing this once or twice every two weeks is worth it as it lets me feel thankful for the simple things in life. Â
- Say Aloud Your Favorite Things About YourselfÂ
-
Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves and put ourselves down, whether we are always looking in the mirror and wishing something was different or regretting doing something. Everyone thinks these things and forgets about all the good they have to offer in this world. At any point of the day that you have free time, go to a quiet spot and say three things that you love about yourself. It can be how you love your hair color, or how you love that you are kind to others, or your energy. Make sure you are saying aloud the best things about yourself, not the worst. My favorite thing about myself is that I am outgoing and I can start a conversation with just about anyone. Â
- Think About The People That Care About You
-
Some people struggle to make friends and feel as if they have nobody, others don’t have good relationships with their family, and some feel entirely alone. Everyone has at least one person that cares about them. It’s nice to think of this in a way that you are having an impact on another person. Think about your favorite memories with that person or how you made them smile. Realize you are essential to them, and life wouldn’t be the same without you. I have had trouble having lasting friendships with people that genuinely care, it’s hard, but I know the friends that stick with me are worth more than all the friends that haven’t worked out. My friends make me feel good about myself and make me smile and laugh. They care. Sometimes all you need is someone who cares about you. My family cares and values me. My boyfriend loves and cares about me. Someone cares about you even if you don’t think so, admit it to yourself. Â
- Wake Up & Look OutsideÂ
-
It’s easy to get caught up in life and forget how amazing it is that you get to live. I read years ago that the probability of you being born is 1 in 400 trillion, so know how rare you are. You get to see the sun when you wake up and breathe fresh air, eat good food, and smile. The thing that makes me feel the most thankful is knowing I must be grateful for the life I live. Â
Love your life, love who you are and never go through a day without feeling some type of appreciation for your life. Remember:Â you are valuable, cared about, and you are living for a reason.Â
