Percy Jackson is coming back to our screens very soon!
The Disney+ series has officially gotten the green light to start production. Fans are ecstatic to see the series come to life as this is long overdue.
A few years ago, the movie adaptation of The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters was made. While the movie was very popular, fans didn’t enjoy it saying it was not accurate from the book. Although the casting was perfect, fans wanted more of the book to come to life. When filming the movie, the author of the series Rick Riordan was not there to give his input. Different from the series, as he will be working with the director to make the series more accurate, starting with the casting of the characters.
The first season of the series will follow the adventure that happens in Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. The series is expected to have eight episodes in the first season. This is amazing news as the story will not feel rushed, and there will be enough time to add book-specific details.
The casting process is still in its beginning stages, but we do already have our Percy Jackson! Walker Scobell will be playing the one and only Percy Jackson. Walker is the perfect Percy Jackson; not only is he age accurate, but he looks and gives off Percy Jackson energy. Walker was recently in The Adam Project alongside Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo. Fans took to Twitter to explain why they loved this casting choice and which returning demigods they wanted to see.
In the adaptation of The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, Logan Lerman played our favorite demigod Percy Jackson. Fans adored Logan as Percy; his adaptation of the character was almost perfect. Alexandra Daddario played the Annabeth Chase we all wanted and deserved. Having Logan and Alexandra appear in the series would be a dream. Fans would love for them to play their godparents. This is the perfect upgrade for a demigod to a full god.
There are so many things to be excited about in the series! It will begin filming this summer and is planned to be released in 2023!
