Music has always played great importance in my life. It does not matter if it was the happiest moments or the saddest ones. Music was still there, and when I listen to songs, it brings back my favorite memories. I decide to make a list of the songs that changed my life in some way or that made that period more special!

Have It All – Jason Mraz

“Here’s to the hearts that you’re gonna break”
This song came in a very important moment in my life. Even though some people are not by our side anymore, we only want the best for them.

High Hopes – Panic! at the Disco

”But I always had a feeling I was gonna be that one in a million”
I come from a very small city in Brazil. I always dreamed about living in different places, seeing different people everyday and to make a difference wherever I was.

Secrets – One Republic

”Just don’t let me disappear”
For me, this song represents how secrets and lies keep us far from the other person. Sometimes a basic situation cannot be solved because of secrets.

You Need To Calm Down – Taylor Swift

”Snakes and stones never broke my bones”
I never liked how some people need to put others down to feel good about themselves. We need to be more emphatic and less jealousy of others. One thing is true: the masks fall!

Rollercoaster – Jonas Brothers

“We were up-and-down and barely made it over but I’d go back and ride that roller coaster”
Most of times what we want to accomplish puts us in hard situations and it feels like a real roller coaster. But that is the fun part, because what easy comes, easy goes.

Rescue Me – One Republic

“Can’t forget what you can’t get back”
This song changed my view of how sometimes we would give the world to someone but they would not do the same for you.

So Am I – Ava Max

“So why you tryna be just like the neighborhood?”
It is better to stand out than just to be another one in crowd. This song showed me how being different is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Shake – Victoria Justice

“Do we really even know what matter when we’re stuck inside the same old patterns?”
I heard this song the first time when I most needed it. It opened my eyes that we should go after what makes us happy and not care for what the others may think.

Hold On – Jonas Brothers

“There’s more to life than just to live”
I hear this song since 2009 but I just understood it now. We cannot give up on things that make life great: love, friends, hope. Even if someone breaks your heart, you can start over.

I Lived – One Republic

“With every broken bone, I swear I lived”
My sister showed me this song and every time that I am feeling down I listen to it. This song taught me that everything happens for a reason and all the situations shape who you are and your experiences.

Barcelona – Ed Sheeran

”We’re going somewhere where the sun is shining bright”
One of my favorite memories come from this song. Barcelona was a place that made a huge difference in my life. Not only I got to go there with my best friend, but it opened my eyes to a world full of possibilities and people.

The Way I am – Charlie Puth

”I’ma tell ‘em all that you could either hate me or love me, but that’s just the way I am”
This song is a freedom hymn for me: never change who you are to make people like you. Be yourself and you attract the people that deserves you the way you are.

How Hard I Try – Filous

“To everything that’s ever been the way that it should”
This song showed me that no matter how hard you try, some people will not give the same value for past memories as you would.

Young Dumb & Broke – Khalid

”But we still got love to give”
I first heard this song on my exchange year and it made a great impact to change to live my life more freely while I am still young.

Thunder – Imagine Dragons

”Not a yes sir, not a follower, fit the box, fit the mold”
I was never a person that believed in everything I hear. I have my own opinions and values well defined. I always thought “outside of the box”. Some people just do not get why you dream so big.

Whatever It Takes – Imagine Dragons

“I do whatever it takes cause I love how it feels when I break the chains”
I am a very determined person when it comes to my dreams. This song gave me strength to keep fighting for what I want.

She Will Be Loved – Maroon 5

“Always belonged to someone else”
This song made me believe in love when I did not believe anymore. But now, it makes me think how sometimes we always belong to someone else and not to ourselves. We should always be the first one to love ourselves.

This love – Maroon 5

”This love has taken its toll on me”
For as much as we love someone, if the love is not making you feel good anymore, it is time to go. Specially when you tried to say goodbye to someone so many times before: break free!

Problem – Ariana Grande

”I got one less problem without ya”
Sometimes, people become a weight on your shoulders. If that’s the case, you are better without them!

First Flight Home – Jake Miller

”I promise when I touch down it’ll be like I never left”
Living so far from home it is not easy. When I first moved to the US, this song helped me when I was feeling homesick and wanting to just get on a plane and go back to Brazil.

Gives You Hell – The All-American Rejects

“Tomorrow you’ll be thinking to yourself, where did it all go wrong?”
This is my FREEDOM song! If someone did wrong on you, this song probably represents your feelings. Because I assure you: it hurt on you, but it will hurt more when they see you happy without them.

What are you “life changing songs”? Music is so important to memories and daily life :)
