“Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change.”

Bob Kerrey

Kindness means living from a place of love, and trying to avoid being Ebenezer Scrooge. It is easy to be caught up in one’s self, and people forget that there are others who have their own struggles. We go around thinking the world revolves around us, but reality check, it does not. The petty things people do should not be taken personally because it could potentially stem from something bigger going on in that person’s life. Why be mean, when kindness is really that easy?

Kindness is like the sun on a rainy day;

It peeks through the clouds,

and brightens someone’s day.

It lasts more than an hour,

because people remember what you do.

When you least expect it,

It will find its way back to you.

For love always prevails,

And kindness is its other half.

In a world full of darkness,

Selflessness is light.

Take the time to flash someone a smile

Because it could go more than a mile.

People can be cruel, and taking the high road is the best response. Kindness can kill because you win more bees with honey than salt. Even when it feels right to sink to a level that is inhumane, it is more important than ever to be polite and show love. Having the capacity to be the bigger person is necessary out of respect for yourself and the other person involved. Kindness is contagious, and when you kill people with it, you disarm their bad attitude.
