It’s Valentine’s Day again, and your expectations for that special day/night is already going to be exactly like last year. It’s nothing close to that rom-com you watched the other night where John Cusack in Say Anything is holding a boom box over his head outside your bedroom window. Instead, your S/O is hauling his butt to the store after work, thirty minutes before closing, choosing your last-minute flowers and chocolates. Of course, we appreciate and love a man who puts that effort in, but we women want to spice it up and encourage something exciting and bold this year, and that’s OK.

It’s just a drive away, and entirely within your budget. A romantic getaway, no matter if it’s an hour and a half from home, is exciting and feels like a vacation focused on you two. Find a suitable Airbnb around a populated downtown or a waterfront view; the options are endless and are geared to whatever you and your S/O desire.
LINGERIE
Yes, what you just read in bold, I did mention that. If you want to spice up your Valentine’s Day and keep that fancy dinner, hear me out. Lingerie is something overlooked a lot because it’s bold, and in your brain, it may be awkward. Victoria’s Secret sells these pieces of apparel annually, and pitch out decent sales the week of Valentine’s Day. A great way to spice up the mood after your dinner date is to wear a piece of that inner goddess underneath your dress. There are tons of options at Victoria’s Secret, from lace cutouts to baby doll satin. You will end up feeling even sexier and bolder than ever before as you’re watching that chick-flick in bed with your S/O.
AN OUTDOOR ACTIVITY
If it’s a deep-sea fishing trip at night or starry night beach adventure. I recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and engaging in an activity with your S/O. As a Floridian, it’s encouraged to travel to the beach at night, bring some lanterns, listen to the waves crash in the moonlight and look up at the stars. Just a drive away to facilitate. You can bring takeout and eat under the stars. That sounds like a romantic night to me, count me in!
COOK TOGETHER
Imagine you two wearing aprons, flour all over your faces, and full-on smiles. There are a bunch of online recipes available to you and your S/O to recreate in your kitchen. Who needs a fancy dinner, and the expensive bill, when you can create an intimate night of laughs and fun. You can find these recipes on sites like Food Network and All Recipes. Sit at the dining room table with a candle lit and a decorative flower display, entertained solely by each other.
