The Hottest Fashion Trends Of Spring/Summer 2021

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

Even though it has been a quiet year for the fashion world, the upcoming spring/summer season has brought in some seriously bold and trendy looks. 2021 has unveiled some of the most influential decades that have inspired and dominated Fashion Weeks. You would think that personal style would diminish during these difficult times, but it’s clear to say the complete opposite has happened. The key to looking good is not following the latest trends, but enhancing your true personal style. For that, here’s the hottest trends and how you can apply to your own style and aesthetic:

Fashion Face Masks

When it comes to protecting yourself during a pandemic, you might as well do it in style! Purchasing a classic black face mask is definitely the way to go to match almost any outfit you wear.

The beauty behind mask-wearing is the limitless styling opportunities that come along with it — here are some fashionable and embellished masks to help you feel fancy! My favorite go-to face masks have been Victoria Secrets Reusable Face Masks. Their face mask collection ranges from plain black colors to leopard print and polka dots. Here are my two favorite VS masks at the moment:

Head Scarfs

The 50s and 60s are two decades that are really inspiring the latest trends. Headscarves are an added accessory to level up your casual look while also protecting your hair without overdoing it. There are a variety of silky designs from floral motifs, intricate patterns to bold colors. Here are my favorite affordable silks from Amazon EVQ Women’s Square Silk Scarf

These are great quality fabric scarves that come in multiple designs and colors depending on your taste. I personally love the bold colors and patterns because I can pair the silk with my casual day-to-day summer outfit. You can mix things up when you do not want to wear it in your hair by wrapping it around your neck or letting it dangle from your handbag! Channel your inner Grace Kelly with these gorgeous headscarves.

Sorbet Pastel Tones

Sorbet-inspired colors are a HUGE trend right now in the fashion world. Not only do these colors suit a wide variety of skin tones, pastel tones create soft and pretty vibes. The soothing colors in buttercup yellow, periwinkle blue, lilacs and peony pink are extremely pleasing to the eye and perfect for upcoming events in the sun. Even though electrifying neons are trending too — it’s perfectly fine to experiment with both if you’re feeling adventurous.

Here are a few color combos and items from PrettyLittleThing.com that I am completely obsessed with:

Pretty Little Thing Lilac Broderie Anglaise Smock Dress

Pretty Little Thing Pale Blue Polka Dot Ruched Frill Hem Bodycon Dress

Pretty Little Thing Pink Marble Print Mesh Halterneck Open Back Bodycon Dress

Pretty Little Thing Dusky Blue Pleated Front Oversized Clutch Bag

Pretty Little Thing Aqua Tie Dye Bucket Hat

Yellow Bags

Yes, YELLOW. Spring/Summer 2021 fashion season has seen yellow bags take over the runways and streets. This trend is super easy to replicate because even though yellow can be a difficult color to wear, Color-Blocking IS THE WHOLE POINT of this trend. Choose a small yellow clutch paired with monochromatic hues to spice up your outfit this season. Here are some of my favorite yellow bags this season:

SHEIN Quilted Yellow Chain Satchel Bag

Envelope Wristlet Clutch Crossbody Bag with Chain Strap from Amazon

HOUSE OF WANT We are Original Vegan Leather Shoulder Bag

Combining your own personal style and these latest trends of 2021 will enable you to be creative, stylish and have fun with it! These go-to fashion-forward items will help a college student shopping on a budget.
