Here are the Best Moments of Kim Kardashian West on SNL in Case You Missed It

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

It’s Saturday Night Live from New York City, and the special guest is Kim Kardashian West!

This past Saturday night, October 9th, the reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian West made her debut on NBC’s ‘SNL’ weekly show. What the pop culture world was not expecting was the show’s content to be so… brutal and funny.

Besides Kim hosting the show, plenty of her celebrity friends made guest appearances, such as Halsey, her mom Kris Jenner that we love, and her sister Khloé, who never misses a thing. What shocked the world, besides Kim actually accepting being on ‘SNL,’ was the comic tone she used to talk about profound moments and events in the Kardashian-Jenner empire throughout the years. From her divorce from Kanye West to talk about O.J. Simpson, Kim did it all.

If you missed the show, you should catch up on the best moments that everyone is talking about. So keep reading!

“I know, I’m surprised to see me here too.”

To open her act and the show, Kim started a monologue about herself, and of course, her whole family. She approached rough subjects that were polemics in the country when it first came out and must have been really hard for her and her family to deal with. Kim made jokes about what made her rise to fame, and about Kanye West’s personality traits.

“I married the best rapper of all time,” she revealed with claps and cheers from the crowd. “Not only that: he’s the richest Black man in America, a talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.” From there, everything seemed pretty standard, but then she added, “so when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: his personality.”

With the help of professional and expert screenwriters from the show who already know their audience, Kim helped write the monologue. Later, after the show was done, she revealed that she sought Kanye’s insights to complete the text as she values his artistic opinions.

“That reference photo my sisters showed their plastic surgeons.”

Besides the fact she roasted Kanye, Kim also did not leave the rest of her family behind. Still, in a comic tone, Kim joked around that all her sisters look the same because they show pictures of her to their plastic surgeons so they can have her appearance.

Caitlyn Jenner, Kris Jenner’s ex, was not left behind as well. Kim added that “I’d love America to come together, which is why I’m here to announce that I’m running for… I’m just kidding. I’m not running for president. We can’t have three failed politicians in one family.” The celebrity joked about Caitlyn losing to sitting California Government Gavin Newson in September of 2021 and Kanye West’s failed presidential campaign in 2020.

“Order in the People’s Kourt!”

Another remarkable moment in the show is Kim showing up like her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, as a judge teasing Kourt for always judging others. The scene counted with guest appearances of Kris Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, Heidi Gardner (playing Kim in her iconic all-black Met Gala look), Chris Redd (as Kanye), Melissa Villaseñor (as Kylie), and Halsey (as Kendall).

Besides acting in the court scene where they joke around about fighting too much for not real problems (like similar outfits), Kim also trolled Kourtney and Travis Barker’s relationship in the show by showcasing their excess of PDA. The scene also counted on guest appearances of Chloe Fineman playing Megan Fox and Pete Davidson as Machine Gun Kelly.

“Why are we best friends,” asked Fineman’s Fox, and Kim’s Kourtney replied, “because our boyfriends have tattoos for necks.”

“And it’s gonna be a long night.”

Together with actresses Punkie Johnson, Cecily Strong, and Ego Nwodim, Kim joined for the skit “Ladies Night Song.”

In this scene, the four adult friends go out in the club to have fun as they did when they were twenty, but they start to see the club differently now. It is not as fun as it used to be; the loud music, sore feet, they are all hungry and really just want to go to bed.

Everyone who kept up with the Kardashians for all their twenty seasons over the past fourteen years knows who much Kim was not for the dance and singing skills. This makes even more of a shocking scene to watch!

“I just want one normal, boring day.”

Another good scene in the show was reacting to “Freaky Friday,” where Kim trade lives for twenty-four hours with ‘SNL’ cast member Andy Bryant after wishing a “normal, boring day.”

Kim complains that she is busy, and Bryant agrees and wishes that they could switch places, even if it is just for a day. But, like the original movie plot, things will not go as smoothly as it was imagined. Kim sees that she is not made for the “boring” lifestyle and realizes that we must be careful with what we wish for.

The last Saturday Night Live episode was definitely one to remember, and Kim went above the expectations, especially if you have been keeping up with her since season one of their reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” With a tone of satire and comic, Kim is changing her image, especially after announcing the divorce to Kanye after seven years of marriage.

We can’t wait to continue following Kim in her personal growth and see what’s ahead for her! What about you? What was your favorite ‘SNL’ moment?
