Never sleep with wet hair:

The number one thing is don’t ever sleep with wet hair. Sleeping with wet hair can cause lots of breakage. When your hair is wet, it is super fragile. During the night, your hair will stretch and cause it to snap more easily.

Limit the heat on your hair:

You can use heat on your hair but don’t use it as much. As many people know, using too much heat on your hair will cause damage.

Shampoo only on roots and conditioner only on ends:

Shampooing on the roots will help remove oils, but shampooing your ends will remove the oils needed and can cause your ends to get too dry. And when you condition your roots, it will cause your roots to have more oil, which could be one of the causes of having oily hair.

Don’t brush your hair from the top:

Brushing your hair from the top will result in breakage. Say you have a knot in your hair and brush it from the top. You will be snapping the pieces of hair connected to the knot, resulting in more split ends. That’s why I always brush from the bottom to the top.

Temperature of water:

When you wash your hair in steaming hot water, it will strip your hair of natural oils, which will result in leaving your hair drier. Your hair enjoys cold water and prefers cold water, but if you can’t like cold water, you can settle for warm water. For those who have colored hair, I’ve read that when washing your hair, it is best to do it in cold water. Soaking it in hot or steamy water will cause the hair cuticle to open up, allowing the color to release and leave your hair much quicker.

To oily hair people like myself:

You can try double shampooing if your hair becomes too oily after washing. I double-shampoo my hair to help remove the oils and remove the build-up that might be on your roots. I don’t know if many people know this, but apple cider vinegar can do wonders for your hair. I used to use apple cider vinegar occasionally. It allowed my hair to detox and feel cleaner. I wouldn’t recommend using it every single wash, but you know, like once a week or once a month to help detox your hair and strengthen it. Apple cider vinegar will help cleanse your hair. Remove product build-up; you can help restore shine and relieve itch and dandruff. It can also encourage hair growth.
