Digital Planners: Why You NEED Them In Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

I know a lot of smart people in college who barely get any sleep, rely on Starbucks Iced Frappe to function through their daily lives and seem to exist in a constant state of panic about passing a class.  You might assume this is happening because they are taking a difficult class with a huge workload—while you may have assumed correct in some instances, more often that is not the reason for this overwhelming college lifestyle is because they are severely unorganized.

The number one reason you should get organized is ultimately to reduce your stress levels. Speaking about digital planners—you might be thinking ‘I’m 100% a paper girl’ which is totally okay, I was exactly the same! I realized I had to change my lifestyle when I had too many different things going on in my life—not to mention the multiple to-do lists and sketchbooks laying all over the place.

Why Digital Planning?

  1. There are SO MANY perks to this type of planning and organizing. I mean, first of all, digital planners are gorgeous and you can download one that suits your personal aesthetic. You can create your own, personalize it and it will be totally unique to you. Again, if you’re somewhat not willing to change completely from paper to digital, I recommend you start off by downloading the free printable planners.
  2. Gone with the saying ‘let me check my planner when I’m home and then I’ll get back to you’. This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Your digital planner is able to link to your phone which means if you’re always on the go, now your planner is too.
  3. If you love decorating your planners, you’ll be happy to know that many digital planners come with cute stickers of all sorts and kinds!
  4. Digital Planning is a great way to kick-start your sustainable lifestyle! The world undoubtedly changed its mindset in 2020 due to COVID-19’s lockdowns where the entire world transitioned to online classes, meetings and events. This paperless lifestyle is the first step to an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle.

Want to join the Digital Planning world? Here’s how!

The most amazing resource that inspired me to begin this journey is from the-pink ink.com!  The PinkInk is a website whereby you learn how to begin and design your own digital planner using templates to create beautiful, purposeful and solution-based planners. There’s actually a Digital Planner Academy! Click here to check it out.

If you aren’t interested in creating your own personal digital planner, it’s extremely easy to search, click and download a planner too. My personal favorite planner that is free to download is by Designer Blogs. The planner itself is clean, simple and contains almost everything I need in a blog planner especially for my current blog posts. This planner is also printable and it allows me to track my analytics, plan my weekly posts, brainstorming and more. Click here to check it out.

Finding the perfect planner for you is really difficult. But it’s definitely necessary to get organized with a great planner of your choice. I hope this blog inspired you to begin your paperless journey and give you some great digital planner resources! One thing I learned about digital planning is that it is extremely addictive. Trust me. Once you replace all those notebooks, papers and post-it notes for digital planners there’s no going back. This is definitely an addiction you want to be a part of!
