Things To Do if You Don’t Feel Like Partying Hard on Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LUM chapter.

Although there’s a good amount of college students that enjoy going out, partying, and staying up late, there’s also those who enjoy doing more laid back and “chill” things. In my third year of college, I realized and accepted that I am one of those people. Accepting this and finding people that share this same thought is difficult but not impossible. Everyone has different lifestyles, preferring to stay in being one of them. Through embracing and finding those who enjoy the same things as you do is what will make you feel less alone and accept your lifestyle. This is why, as a college student that enjoys being in bed by midnight, waking up feeling good, and not spending their money on costumes, I have just the things you could do to celebrate Halloween your way.

Although my information is based on where I go to school, I feel like during this time, everyone has Fall Festivals. As a student from Puerto Rico, where it’s summer all year long, except for Christmas, I never experienced Fall Festivals until now. They’re such a good time, from food to games, music, and activities, this is the perfect thing to do with your friends, family, or partner if you’re looking for something to do that’s fun and outdoors. You can take pictures, dress up, and buy things for your other friends and family too.

If you’re looking to stay in, every time I go on different servers like Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I see that more of them have created categories with their selection of Halloween movies. I have also seen lists of 31 movies to see each day up until Halloween. This is a good idea if you’re looking for something to do with your friends in your own space. To make it even more fun, you could have everyone bring something for dinner whether its deserts or entrees. This is also a good idea for all those long-distance relationships, and friendships, that want to spend time together. Through “Scener” you can both stream movies and TV shows from a variety of platforms, synced!

I have begun to see how the infamous “Power Point Nights” have slowly but surely become a new friend group favorite. Since it’s Halloween, everyone can create a Powe Point with their best and worst costumes throughout the years. This is a good idea if you’re looking for something different, yet enjoyable for everyone where you can have a laugh. Additionally, everyone can come dressed up in an attempt to show their best costume yet.

Finally, one the more extrovert side, you could search if there are any Halloween activities in town that you could go to. Some places have haunted houses, themed nights, festivals, and movie nights outdoors. To make it more fun and unique, you and your friends could go dressed up and take fun pictures. This is perfect if you want to go out, but not in a crazy and expensive way.

Putting yourself out there in a way that not everyone enjoys is not easy. It’s important for you to remember that just because you don’t enjoy what most people do, it doesn’t mean you’re boring, lame, or an outsider. It makes you unique. Embracing your uniqueness and having fun in your own, equally enjoyable way, will not only make you feel better, but will connect you with others that share the same things. Sooner rather than later you’ll find yourself surrounded and loved by people that will make your days a little better and your plans a little lighter.
