On June 21, 2026 it was announced that Olivia Rodrigo would be hosting Daisy Chain Fields just over a week after her highly anticipated album release, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’. Olivia describes the meaning of the festival name, “Daisies are wild and beautiful. As a chain, they are strong and unbreakable”
The festival’s mission was to create a safe space to celebrate the creativity of women in music and “to foster an inclusive environment in which all are welcome”. All the proceeds from the festival were to go to Planned Parenthood and other various non-profit organizations that support women and girls.
Rodrigo has been outspoken on her pro-choice views and support for the right to abortion. During her Guts World Tour, she launched Fund 4 Good, directing a portion of all ticket sales to support reproductive rights, women’s shelters, and community groups. Rodrigo even sung ‘F*ck You’ with Lily Allen at Glastonbury 2022 and dedicated it to the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade days prior.
The posters and promo for Daisy Chain included a background of perfect pink, and lots of buttons. These buttons included sayings like “Bans Off Our Bodies”, peace signs, and plants, among other yellow and green artwork. This all formed into a flower in the middle of the poster. The line up in black font at the top was particularly unique with its all female performers, none of which overlapped so everyone could see every act.
Olivia Rodrigo headlined of course, but it had other stars like Chappell Roan, Stevie Nicks, Doechii, Mitski and Sarah Mclachlan, among others. The festival took place on August 29th, 2026 in Irvine, California in Great Park.
At the festival it also included multiple art pieces from female artists to complement the two stages the ‘Dandelion’ and ‘Marigold’. The artists that made the festival come to life included Kelsey Merreck Wagner, a textile artist, and Astria Suparak who did a gallery based on the Riot Grrls of the 1990s.
The most popular was an interactive art piece named ‘Wish Tree’ by Yoko Ono. Festival go-ers could write their wishes for the world, the future and themselves on pieces of paper and then tie them to the tree.
The day before the festival Rodrigo announced with her board of trustees that they had raised $10 million for various non-profit organizations supporting women and girls, a huge accomplishment for the first time festival. After the festival took place they again announced that they had raised another $10 million!
There were many celebrities at Daisy Chain besides the lineup artists, like Emma Watson, Alanis Morisette (a surprise special guest), and Rachel Zegler. Lara, Megan and Yoonchae of KATSEYE also showed up as a surprise. The international girl group was supposed to perform at Daisy Chains but pulled out at the last minute due to another member Sophia’s health hiatus.
This festival was a success and Rodrigo confirmed a 2027 Daisy Chains Festival with a “See you guys next year!” at the end of her set. I had major ‘jealousy, jealousy’ seeing all the videos and pictures on social media so I hope one day I will be able to make it to Daisy Chains and join in on the fun.
