Students of Loyola: a take on the very exciting, emotional, and raw, “Humans of New York.” We want to capture the students at Loyola in a way that has not been done before. We want people’s joy and struggles to be out there, without forcing anything too much.
What is something you have learned from being a Nursing student?
“My dad is a nurse, and his passion for helping others is what made me want to follow suit. However, being one of the very few men in the Nursing program at Loyola has made me realize how gender plays a role in academic settings. Learning and collaborating with my female peers has given me new perspectives on how women have to endure more difficulties than men in the professional world. Having the roles reversed, and being the outnumbered gender for once, helped me first-handedly understand what women feel like in everyday settings, where men typically dominate the scene. I am also involved around campus, through Greek life and multicultural communities, and I always bring up these realizations to the men around me so they can not only understand the impact of women on our campus, but also in our society.”
