Students of Loyola: Brian O'Mahoney

Students of Loyola: a take on the very exciting, emotional, and raw, Humans of New York. I want to capture the students at Loyola in a way that has not been done before. I want people’s joy and struggles to be out there, without forcing anything too much.

Meet Brian O'Mahoney

Who is the most influential person in your life?

"I would say the most influential person in my life has been my father. Up until my mid teens we kind of just coexisted, I sort of took him for granted. Then my parents got a divorce and the whole thing made us closer; it made me realize all the things he’s done for me over the years. Growing up I thought my mom did everything, but my dad did the things that really mattered. He taught me how to ride a bike and how to be brave, that stuff is really important to me. It’s weird, you hear people talk about how you become your parents and now I look at myself and I see a lot of aspects of my dad in myself. As I grew up I just wanted to be my dad, especially after all the stuff he’s been through. The most important lesson he’s taught me is that no matter what happens, you can always work through it. Never stop working for what you want, thats why he’s the most influential, because thats all that really matters, I think."
