Stay at home dates are a great way to get intimate and have fun with your significant other. These date ideas will spice up your usual routine that has been happening during quarantine. These date ideas will allow you and your partner to stay connected during this pandemic and still have a fun and romantic time while doing it. Here are some stay at home date ideas to spice up during the pandemic.

  1. Movie night

Movie night is a classic. It’s a great way to stay inside and still have a good time. Whether it’s Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or Disney Plus, there is a wide range of streaming services that you and your S.O. can choose from to watch a movie or tv show. If you’re a thousand miles away from each other, I highly suggest using Netflix Party to have that movie night experience. All you have to do is dim the lights, curl up on the couch with some blankets, and munch on some snacks. I promise, it’ll feel just like you’re at the movies.

My partner and I love ordering in from our neighborhood restaurants and watching new movies we haven’t seen yet to simulate that AMC Dine-In experience.

Movie/ TV Show suggestions:

Peanut Butter Falcon, Rocketman (Amazon Prime)

Cobra Kai, The Wrong Missy (Netflix)

Mandalorian (Disney Plus)

  1. Take turns cooking dinner for each other

Going out to expensive restaurants was so 2019, now it’s your time to show off your cooking skills that you learned during quarantine. Cooking together is a great way to save money and try a new activity together. Staying in quarantine has allowed me to cook and bake for all of my friends, but especially for my partner. We switch off every weekend on who buys the ingredients and then make the meal together. Our classic dish that we like to make is steak and baked potato.

  1. Try each other’s interests

When it comes to dates or getting to know your S.O., you aren’t always going to have similar interests. A great way to spice things up is to learn from each other and try each other’s hobbies or interests. Maybe your S.O. likes Dungeons & Dragons, golf, and baking, but you like yoga, knitting, and books. I definitely recommend showing each other your hobbies!

My partner loves playing video games and instead of me watching, I asked if I could join in. It was great to do something my partner enjoyed and learn something new. Vice versa, I enjoy working out or going on long walks, which my partner now accompanies me on so we can talk and get our exercise in.

  1. Picnic

Staying inside can get a little boring, so some fresh air won’t hurt. Picnics are a great way to get outside and change up the setting. Head to your nearest grocery store and pick up some snacks for the fun day outside. My favorites are cheese and crackers, mini sandwiches, lemonade, and some fruit. Find a spot near a park or beach, roll down a blanket, play some music, and enjoy each other’s company.

  1. Facetime/ Zoom is your best friend

If you can’t see your S.O. or you’re in a long distance relationship, then FaceTime or Zoom (if they have an Android) is your best friend. These tools make it possible to connect with them and be able to do whatever you want over a video call. Whether you and your S.O. want to order the same food and eat it on camera together or go to the park in two different time zones, you can do it virtually. Video chat will allow the relationship to grow stronger and also help you connect throughout the relationship.

Whether it’s curling up to a movie or turning your kitchen into an episode of Chopped, there are endless ideas to make date night fun at home. Don’t let this pandemic discourage you from spicing up your relationship this year!
