Why Today is the Day to Start Your Passion Project

As we all settle into our homes, shut our doors, and protect ourselves from the events occuring in the world today, we are suddenly face to face with endless time with our only limits being the surrounding four walls. Looking at this situation as a burden, it can seem endless and straight up torture, but as I took a few steps backwards I realized that deep down this can be a blessing.

While our day to day activities are suddenly at a halt, we each are given a perfect opportunity to chase what we’ve always dreamed of doing, learning, or having. Now is the time for the passion projects you’ve constantly put on a shelf in the back of your mind. You are literally being forced to sit at home, so instead of going stir crazy try to take advantage of each day. One day in the future you’ll catch yourself saying, where did all the time go? These few weeks of quarantine can feel like the clock has stopped, so ask yourself if you could freeze time what would you do?

Personally, writing has been one of my biggest passions for years, so over these next few weeks my goal is to write as much as I can. If writing isn’t your style, maybe you’re an artist, fashion advocate, or musician, either way this time can be very beneficial for you. While not everyone has their specific niche, you can even use this time to learn about something you’ve always wondered about. It doesn’t have to be a life changing activity. As long as you love what you’re doing, I challenge you to go after it while time is on your side.

I understand that not everyday is going to be perfect. During this time, it’s normal to have good and bad days, so do what you feel like you can handle. Just remember not to get caught up in laying in bed, sleeping the days away, or staring into a screen for hours on end. Take charge of your life, despite the circumstances. Don’t wait for tomorrow, next month, or even next year. Like Benjamin Franklin said, “don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
