Five Subscription Boxes to Build Your Passion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Louisiana Tech chapter.

It’s time to build your passion! If you’re looking for something new and fun to try, these five subscription boxes could be the answer for you!

1. Scribbler

This one is for all the writers out there. Scribbler is meant to keep you motivated, improve your writing, and educate you on your publishing options. So if you’re struggling to find inspiration or just wanting to improve your skills, this could be the perfect box for you. Each box contains a novel with a signed bookplate and literary swag gifts. If you’re still not sold, it’ll also contain a teaching booklet from a best-selling author and live chats with real-life literary agents and editors! Scribbler is available for subscription at $27.50 per month.

2. Boxwalla – Film Box

Boxwalla offers three different subscription boxes: beauty, books, and film. I was especially intrigued by the film box, considering my love for movies. Each Box will contain films from the Criterion Collection, along with inserts with detailed information on each film. This is a great opportunity to expand your tastes in film and delve into genres that you would otherwise not pay attention to. Subscribe for $49.95 per month.

3. Black Box Record Club

For all you record player owners out there, Black Box Record Club will send you two premium LPs and custom merch items each month for $40 per month.  The company curates vinyl selections based on your own music taste. You can connect your Spotify playlist directly to their site and they’ll send a box custom-made for you.

4. Hunt A Killer

Have you ever watched so much of the ID channel that you’re convinced you could be an actual detective? If your answer is yes, it’s time to put your detective skills to the test with the Hunt a Killer subscription box. According to their website,  “Hunt A Killer is an immersive murder mystery game told throughout six “episodes” or boxes. Each box is filled with different clues and physical items such as autopsy reports, witness statements, and more. You’ll use these clues to solve the ongoing murder mystery. In the final episode, you’ll be able to catch the killer!” The plans start at $25 per box.

5. Creation Crate

I thought I’d throw in one for all the tech geeks out there. Creation Crate is a curriculum-based subscription with included projects ranging from beginner to “tech wizard”. You’ll receive an UNO R3 (Arduino compatible), a breadboard, and all the needed components to create your project. For beginners, you’ll get to create a really cool mood lamp. They’ll also guide you through the process with their online electronics course. The cost to subscribe for one project monthly is $29.99.
