Fall is finally here, but between busy work schedules, long to-do lists, and piles of homework, it is easy to forget about the wonderful things that the fall season can bring to us. In order to fully appreciate the beauty of fall, you should try consuming media with “fall vibes” to get you in the spirit! Even if you don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, you are sure to get in the fall mood by consuming these pieces of media.

Music

Recently, Phoebe Bridgers just came out with her new album titled “Lost Weekend.” This album is perfect for late night study sessions or rainy days where you want to cozy up with a good book. Songs such as “The Governor’s Waltz” and “I Can’t Wait” really transport listeners to a different world.

Another new album that is perfect for fall is “Angels” by Lizzy McAlpine. This album is perfect for walking to class or catching up on your schoolwork in a coffee shop. The melancholy and nostalgia this album provides will definitely get you into the fall mood.

The band Mazzy Star is the perfect band to listen to during fall. The band creates a whimsical vibe in each of their songs which curates the perfect soundtrack for a cozy fall night.

Movies

Some nights you just want to cozy up and watch a good movie. I tend to rewatch “Dead Poets Society” every fall. Regardless of how depressing it is, the aesthetics of the movie truly get me ready for the season.

If you find yourself stuck inside on a rainy night, I highly recommend watching the first “Twilight” movie. Even though it is cringy at times, this movie is a fall classic and is very entertaining to watch.

If you are ready for Halloween, I recommend watching “Hocus Pocus” or “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!” These classics are sure to make you excited for the season and bring a sense of nostalgia which can only come during fall.

Shows

If movies aren’t up your alley, you should consider having a show to binge watch! One classic fall show I highly recommend watching is “Gilmore Girls.” This show is perfect to have in the background while you study or even sleep. The dialogue and background music is just so calming, and there are many fall themed episodes to really get you into the spirit.

Another perfect fall show is “Anne with an E.”  The color palette is perfect for autumn, and the storyline is extremely heart warming. The overall tone of the show is so sweet, and you will truly fall in love with the characters.

I also recommend the show “Over the Garden Wall.” Although it is a children’s show, the fall aesthetic the show includes is beautiful, and the atmosphere created is mysterious yet calming.

Books

Nights with a warm cup of tea and a good book are essential for fall. I recommend taking a look at the dark academic murder mystery titled “The Secret History” by Donna Tart. Although it’s long, this book really transports you into a different universe. The storyline is also extremely intriguing, which makes the book impossible to put down.

Another book I would recommend is “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. This book is beautifully written and tells a very heartwarming story. It follows four sisters and their relationships with one another. Overall, the nostalgia and heartfelt emotions evoked in this story are perfect for the season.

Each of these pieces of media will transport you into a whimsical fall state of mind. Grab your headphones, a fall themed drink, and enjoy listening, watching, and reading!
