When someone mentions fall, one item always comes to mind. That is a PUMPKIN! To celebrate this fall fruit, I have come up with ideas on how you can decorate pumpkins for the autumnal season. These range from the classic carving ideas to more expressive options.

Jack O Lantern

You can never go wrong with carving a classic Jack O’Lantern. This can easily be personalized based on the pumpkin carver. You can make anything from a bright-eyed, smiling pumpkin to a scary face ready for Halloween.

Character

Another way you could carve a pumpkin is to match your Halloween costume. This may sound complicated, but you can simply print out a silhouette of the character you’re dressing up as for Halloween. Then you cut this out, tape it to your pumpkin, then start carving around the silhouette.

Patterns

A lesser-done option is carving a pattern into your pumpkin. This would be perfect for adding decor to any room in your home. You can carve stripes, polka dots, or any other pattern right into your pumpkin.

Flowers

If you’re just not quite sure what you should turn your pumpkin into, it could make a great vase. If you hollow out your pumpkin, it would make a great vase for some pretty fall flowers. This would be great to add some decor in front of any home.

Painting

If carving pumpkins out really isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy this quintessential fall item. Simply grab some paints and start adorning your pumpkin. This can really help one express their creative abilities.

Paper Crafts

Lastly, if you want very minimal mess, this idea is for you! Simply get paper, paper scraps, and tape or glue. Cut out little shapes to glue on your pumpkin to make a face, character, or design. This mess free idea takes out the obstacle of carving the pumpkin, but still lets you decorate it to your hearts content.

Any one of these ideas can provide a lot of fun for you and your friends or family to partake in. I hope everyone has a great fall and will go pick up a pumpkin to participate in one of these fall activities.
