2000s Shows Worth Rewatching

Here are some of my favorite 2000’s shows that are easy to watch. On hard days, sometimes you just need a bingeable series to get you out of a slump.

1. One Tree Hill

Set in the town Tree Hill, North Carolina, the series follows half-brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott, as they balance basketball, family drama, and relationships. Both walk the same path, just in different shoes.

Lucas is raised by his single mom, living a quiet life. Nathan grows up wealthy and popular while facing pressure from his demanding father.

The series has 9 seasons, with new characters arriving each season. The storylines keep growing and getting more extreme. Even after watching many episodes multiple times I never fully move on. One of my favorite things is that you can visit locations of where the series was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina!

2. Gilmore Girls

The series focuses on Lorelai Gilmore (played by the award-winning Lauren Graham), a single mother and her daughter Rory. They live in the unique small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The show explores the close mother-daughter relationship as Rory is growing up.

Along the way, viewers meet the eccentric residents in Stars Hollow, while following them through relationships, school stress, family conflicts, and other hardships.

I cannot even begin to tell you how enjoyable this series is. When I want a pick-me-up show, I instantly open up Netflix and put on “Gilmore Girls.” My favorite episodes are Season 5, episode 7, and Season 6, episode 7. Both are easy to watch, and very intriguing.

3. Grey’s Anatomy

In Seattle, Washington, this series follows Meredith Grey and a group of surgical interns. They start off working at Seattle Grace Hospital. The series heavily focuses on the personal lives and relationships of the doctors while including intense medical cases and surgeries.

Over the years, the show introduces heavy emotional storylines, including loss, survival and personal growth. It is one of the longest-running television dramas.

The series is one of my guilty pleasures. The storytelling is very emotional and you learn to feel for the characters. One of my favorite parts of the series is that you occasionally find a character you love that has the worst character downfall.

4. Glee

“Glee” follows a high school glee club at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. Will Schuester is the teacher trying to rebuild the club by bringing together a group of misfit students all with different backgrounds, personalities, and talents.

The series focuses on students like Rachel Berry, Finn Hudson, Kurt Hummel and Santana Lopez. They are all navigating friendship, identity and relationships while facing backlash from others.

Yes, it is a show with lots of music involved, which makes it one of my favorites. The show is just pure chaos, with inconsistent plots. Overall, it is just corny and so easy to rewatch if you are a music nerd. Once you find a character you find yourself in, you will follow them all throughout the seasons.

5. The Vampire Diaries

“The Vampire Diaries” follows Elena Gilbert, a teenager living in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. She falls in love with Stefan Salvatore, a vampire trying to live peacefully among humans.

Things become dangerous and unpredictable when Stefan’s brother Damon returns to town. When becoming involved with the Salvatore brothers, Elena discovers that Mystic Falls is filled with supernatural creatures.

This franchise is one of my favorites. There is always something happening, whether it is a shocking plot twist, emotional relationships, or supernatural drama. The series is the perfect mix of romance, chaos, and nostalgia.

6. The Middle

Set in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana, the series follows the Heck family. You see the family navigate the challenges of living a middle-class suburban life.

Frankie Heck works as a saleswoman trying to balance parenting and work, while her husband Mike is a quiet but supportive father. They have three children, who all have different personalities that create both chaos and humor in their family.

The Middle is one of the first shows I watched with my family. Although I haven’t watched it in its entirety, I always end up watching episodes again. The series is just pure chaos. The episodes being short allow for you to watch more in a sitting than usual.
