Tips For Potential Bigs When Making Your Little Baskets

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

For most of the sophomores at LMU who are in a sorority, it is officially big/little season! This is a really exciting, yet stressful, time because we get to deliver fun baskets to our “children,” but we want to make sure everything is perfect. Personally, I am feeling overwhelmed just because I want my little to love everything I give her, and I am sure I am not the only one feeling this way. Down below are some tips and tricks for potential bigs to make the overall process run smooth – and to keep the stress levels low.

1. Go Through Your Old T-Shirts

Flashback to about a year ago when those who are taking littles now were the littles. Do you remember all of the shirts and other merch you received from your big? I know that I have a lot! Even though every article of clothing is super cute, I doubt you actually wear every single thing on a consistent basis. Go through all of these shirts, sweatshirts, pants, etc. and divide them evenly for all of your baskets! You want to shower your little with your sorority’s merch, and handing things down saves you from spending money on new merch from overpriced websites.

2. Buy Crafts and Decor From TJ Maxx

Another factor in a little’s basket is the cute decor and art pieces in it. I know my big made a handful of canvases and other cute things for me, and these materials can be purchased at TJ Maxx or Home Goods for very little money. This is an efficient way to get everything you need (paint, glue, glitter, rhinestones, etc.) for a low price. You can also get cute decorations for your little’s room or to decorate the actual baskets.

3. Buy Candy and Other Snacks From the C-Store

I know what you may be thinking – why would I give my precious little food from the c-store? Well, if you have Lion Dollars especially, this is a very cheap and easy way to throw some snacks into the baskets to fill it up more. In all honesty, all the snacks are the same, and your little is not going to know where you purchased them from.

4. Buy Additional Things On Amazon

When hunting for more fillers to put in your baskets, one would be surprised to know that Amazon has a ton of cute sorority things for decent prices. They have flags, socks, stickers, phone/laptop cases, signs, etc. You can also purchase makeup, nail polish, cute mugs, candles, etc. to put in the baskets as well!

This time of year is super exciting for everyone – the littles, bigs, gbigs, etc. and I do not want everyone to stress too much! Hopefully, these tips helped you, and remember that no matter what you put into your basket, your little is going to love you!
