Overall, it’s a fantastic place to stay! It was hard for me to want to leave the hotel because there was so much there! It has shops on site, the pool, lots of restaurants, a great fitness center, and the beach all right there! What more does a person need? That list pretty much sums up my time at the Del.

The Shops at the Del

The shops at the Del were fun to walk around! While it’s not a huge mall with several big brand names, there are lots of cute boutiques to wander through on the ground level of the hotel. Whether you are wanting to shop to get out of the sun, or are looking for gifts for people you know, the shops at the Del have quite a selection of stores!

The Restaurants

There were so many restaurants at the Del! It definitely is possible to only eat at the hotel and never anywhere else. They have brunch everyday at a place called Sheerwater, wood fired pizzas at a place called Eno, coffee and pastries at B+S Bakery, an ice cream shop, a candy shop, and even a couple more restaurants! The food at the hotel is very good and the atmosphere is great at any place you eat!

The Fitness Center

Typically I am very disappointed when I go to the fitness centers at hotels but the gym at the Del is an exception! I went almost every day that I was there! It actually was a decent sized fitness center for a hotel. Normally they are small and barely have any equipment. This fitness center had lots of machines and equipment, as well as a studio where classes were held for guests. Some of the classes were even held on the beach, such as their spin class.

The Location

With the beach on one side, and downtown Coronado on the other, the Del is in a perfect location! Being right on the beach is definitely a perk of staying at the Del. While this beach is public, guests get to take advantage of lounge chairs and daybeds situated on the beach in front of the hotel. Even though it is tempting to stay on hotel property the whole time you’re there, it is also nice to explore the small downtown of Coronado, which is pretty much just one street. There are lots of fun restaurants to try and stores to walk around! You can walk from the hotel and be downtown in 5 minutes, maybe even less!

If you are ever going to Coronado, or just San Diego in general, I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Del! Even if you aren’t staying there, it is just an amazing building to see. It is a historic landmark with lots of charm! I really enjoyed my first time at the Del and I can’t wait for the next time I’ll get to stay there!
