Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

It’s that time of year everyone has been looking forward to for months! Halloween is going to be here before you even know it. If you’re like me and you leave you your Halloween costumes to the last minute then this blog post will be your lifesaver!

Costume 1 Greek Goddess: This costume is super easy to create even just from clothes in your own closet How great is that? No need to sit in traffic on a hot afternoon to go find a costume!

Step 1: Find a white dress from your closet

Step 2: Find a braided gold headband (or if you are feeling ambitious go to Michael’s craft store and buy the materials for a DIY flower headband).

Step 3: Pull out your favorite gold or tan gladiator-style sandals.

Step 4: Accessories are a must. So take all your gold bracelets, necklaces, and a pair of gold earrings to shine like a true goddess.

Step 5: Lastly, pull this costume together with natural makeup.

Costume 2 Mermaid: Who couldn’t want to be a mermaid for a night? This costume is super cute and also very easy to make if you are in a time crunch!

Step 1:  Grab a bathing suit top, or if want to feel a tiny bit more modest grab a crop top.

Step 2: In this step you want to find a way to create the skirt (or scales if you will), using a green or blue maxi or high-low skirt. (Forever 21 would be a great place to look.)

Step3: Pull out your favorite simple gold sandals from your closet.

Step 4: Accessorize this costume with shell bracelets and a necklace or simple gold jewelry.

Step 5: The hair is really important for this costume. Create a beachy look with a curling iron. Then add a shell hair clip to complete the hair.

Step 6: Lastly, add blue/green eye shadow to create this mermaid costume.

Costume 3 Dalmatian: If you are looking for a costume that is a little more humorous than the others than this is the one for you.

Step 1: Find a white dress and take black polka dots (get felt or another type of fabric from Michaels craft store.) and glue them on to the dress.

Step 2: For shoes get black sandals, or closed-toed shoes (like converse).

Step 3: For the ears find a black headband and take black and white felt from Michaels and glue them onto the headband. Like magic you will now have Dalmatian ears!

Step 4: For the makeup, use black eyeliner to make a nose and draw a black circle around one of your eyes. Then add red lipstick. Soon enough you will look like a Dalmatian!
