High School: What You Miss and What You Don’t Miss (As told by your Favorite Movies and TV Shows About High School)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

What You Miss:

1. Seeing all your friends every day.

It was the best walking to class together, a true re-creation of this scene from Mean Girls.

2. Being involved in team sports.

Even if you weren’t very good, being on a team, and the community that came with it, was the best. Although we did all have some of these moments when watching our friends play their sports:

3. Being able to hang out after school conveniently.

I mean, you were all in the same place, it just made sense. And it was a great way to avoid homework.

4. Knowing exactly where to “casually run into” your crush.

“I totally didn’t know you had biology third period!”

5. Being able to go home, have a break from everyone, and do whatever you wanted at the end of the day. And when anyone asked if you binge watched Netflix for 5 hours straight or took a 4 hour nap:

What You Don’t Miss:

1. Two Words: Gym. Class.

We can all relate to Eric Forman in this gif.

2. Seeing all the people you hate every day.

And having to avoid them.

3. The obsession with the “popular” kids.

I mean, we all kind of cared, but it did get old really fast.

4. The endless supply of math classes.

The only limit I remember learning was that the limit of math classes offered at my school did not exist, there was always another one to take. Oh and also, after three years of living in the “real world” I can tell you that I have never needed to know how to properly graph a function.

5. Teachers telling you: “It won’t be this easy in college!”
