Here Are Things I’ve Been Enjoying Lately

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

My favorite thing to do after a long stressful day at school is wind down with some comfy clothes on and watch Netflix. Netflix always puts a smile on my face. Or taking a study break to watch the latest episode of your favorite show on Hulu. With so many streaming services to choose from, it can be hard to decide what to watch. My job here is to make your lives easier by recommending you some great shows and movies to watch. Whether it’s Netflix, Hulu, or Disney Plus, you can never go wrong. Some of these things are new and some are a little bit older, but still iconic.

Next in Fashion (2020)

If you like Project Runway then you will enjoy Next in Fashion. The hosts, Alexa Chung and Tan France judge a competition where designers create runway looks and compete for the ultimate grand prize of $250,000. I fell in love with the designs but I also enjoyed learning a little bit more about the competitors through their designs. This show will keep you on the edge of your seat and will give you helpful tips on how you can elevate your outfits.

Miss Americana (2020)

If you have been a fan of Taylor Swift as long as I have, then you are in for a treat. Taylor opens up like never before. We get a peek at her life off-stage. I enjoyed seeing this intimate side of Taylor. She opens up about politics, self-esteem, and being her own person. This documentary screams women empowerment.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved: P.S. I Love You (2020)

In the Sequel to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018), we find Laura Jean is head over heels in love with Peter Kavinsky. When John Ambrose comes back to town, Laura Jean is left in a love triangle. Will she pick jock popular guy, Peter, or will she pick John Ambrose, the smart, kind, type of guy. This movie is great when you are in a funk and need a distraction from reality. Plus, the cinematography and music in this are great.

The Good Doctor (2017)

I recently started binge-watching The Good Doctor on Hulu. The show focuses on Dr. Shaun Murphy, a resident at St. Bonaventure hospital. Shaun has Autism and Savant Syndrome. He is constantly proving to others his abilities. He is pushing barriers and saving lives at the same time. If you enjoy Grey’s Anatomy and you want to learn more about Autism, this show is for you.

The Parent Trap (1998)

This is one of my childhood favorite movies. Whenever this is on, I feel at ease. Hallie  and Annie meet at camp and find out that they are twins. They decide to switch places in hopes of getting their parents back together. This movie is the epitome of the 90’s culture. Watch this with a friend, bring some snacks and you are bound to have a great time.
