Hawaii’s Lesser-Known Paradise

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

I would love Cabo just as much as the next person, but after a particularly stressful year I opted for a quieter, more relaxing spring break. I chose to travel to Molokai, one of the smaller Hawaiian islands. Nicknamed “The Friendly Isle,” Molokai has a very hometown feel, and residents love their home and are passionate about sharing it with others. Molokai is largely undeveloped; there are no traffic lights! This tropical paradise is, for the most part, untouched by human hands, and it is breathtaking. The beaches are pristine and the island and surrounding ocean are home to wildlife such as deer, tropical birds, sea turtles, and humpback whales. I realize I sound like a tourism brochure, so here are some photos so you can see for yourself.

The only way to get me up early is to promise me a beach sunrise and lots of beautiful shells that have washed up overnight.

This is the view from the boat we took out to the reef to go snorkeling. The water was so clear we could see the reef from the boat, before we even got in the water. It was amazing to swim with all the tropical fish and even sea turtles!
