Ahhhh, ‘Friends.’ A show we all know, and a show most of us love. It’s the perfect show to binge on Netflix while avoiding our responsibilities like studying for the midterm exam we have the next day, writing that paper we’ve been putting off for far too long, and overall just doing anything remotely productive.  Before we know it, Netflix feels the need to check in on us and ask if we’re still watching because people really shouldn’t be watching a single sitcom for six hours straight right? Well, with Friends it happens.

Why are we obsessed with a show that’s older than we are? Who knows. Yet not only are we in love with the show, we’re in love with the clothes they wear too. Let’s take a look and reminisce on the wonderful fashion era that is the 90s.

Exhibit A: Rachel Green.

Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston, gives meaning to the word “fashionista.” She’s trendy in the show, taking chances on her outfits and going outside of the box. She is a true trendsetter in her overalls, mini skirts, and denim vests.

Here is some more Rachel Green style to admire, appreciate, and be inspired by!

Exhibit B: Monica Geller

While Rachel Green may have stolen the show, it’d be a crime to not acknowledge the wonderful outfits Monica Geller, played by Courteney Cox, wears. Monica is queen of the “mom jean” that this generation is so obsessed with. Her fashion is effortless as she looks stunning in each episode. Here are some of my favorites!

Personally, my favorite look of hers is the mom jean look. It’s a jean that she wears time and time again on the show, usually along with white tennis shoes or her signature black-heeled boots. Clearly 90s fashion is currently being recycled as so many of us on campus are still wearing mom jeans and white tennis shoes!

Exhibit C: Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe Buffay, played by Lisa Kudrow, is a quirky and hilarious character we all love who refuses to conform to trends. While Phoebe’s fashion is not something that can really be accurately labeled, it is fun, eclectic, and always changing. She influenced the wearing of maxi dresses, a plethora of rings on her fingers, and the wonderful scrunchie ponytails. Phoebe’s clothes are always as colorful as her personality!

Well there you have it folks! Good old fashion inspiration from one of the greatest shows of all time. If you’re not completely satisfied by the outfits included in this post, I encourage you to take a break from your hard work, open up Netflix, and watch a few episodes. I always seem to love at least one outfit in every single one!
