Fall Fashion Ideas for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

With the fall season approaching, everyone is ready for pumpkin spice lattes and cozying up with some hot apple cider!  Though California doesn’t always show the seasons, you can still warm up to autumn with some cute outfits that are super easy to recreate for any college student (and work even in the lingering LA heat)!  (P.S. you can buy almost all these outfits online from my favorite websites, and most of them are very affordable!)

Top: HIDE Lettering Logo Mock Neck Crop Top

Bottoms: HIDE Belted Check Skort

Shoes: Faux Leather Lace-Up Ankle Booties

Pairing a long-sleeve top with a skirt is perfect for the just-cold-enough weather as we move into fall!

Jacket: SHEIN Letter Embroidered Drop Shoulder Faux Fur Teddy Coat

Skirt: My friend’s store, sold out but similar – HIDE Mini Solid Tone Skort

If you want a look that is a little more extra, pair a simple outfit with a statement jacket like this super fluffy and super adorable purple coat!

Top: HIDE Loose Fit Stripe Knit Top

Boots: similar – Women’s 6-inch Premium Waterproof Boots

The oversized look is always on-trend and pairing an oversized sweater with some chunkier boots creates the perfect cozy look!

Jumpsuit: FancyMe Spaghetti-Strap Jumpsuit With Sash

If you want something a little fancier, a pantsuit is perfect.  Something like this can easily be layered for adjusted warmth with a short or long sleeve underneath, or it can be worn on its own for warmer days!

Top: Spaghetti Strap Satin Cropped Top

Jacket/Bottoms: Plaid Blazer / Skort

This blazer/skort set is one of my favorite pieces in my closet, and it provides some warmth while looking adorable in any kind of weather.  You can even wear the blazer off the shoulder when it gets warmer, or shrug it back on in the autumn chill.

Top: Similar (same store) – Turtleneck Top

Jacket: Similar – Long-Sleeve Oversized Checked Flannel Shirt

Bottoms: DIY (hint hint for a future article!)

For colder days, layering is the way to go.  A turtleneck can be worn under any kind of shirt for a cute, warm look and an oversized flannel creates a similar look to the sweater from earlier.  The open style jeans still help this look to be practical even if the weather is a little warmer.

Overall, just play around with what styles you like!  Most of the time you can layer the summer clothes you already love with a jacket or a long-sleeve top underneath to add some extra warmth for the fall season.  Happy autumn and happy styling!
