Campus Celebrity: Zachary Tinker

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

Zachary Tinker was born in New York City and moved to sunny Los Angeles when he was just three years old. Born and raised in two of the most prominent entertainment capitals in America, it’s no surprise Zach was inspired to start an acting career. A junior transfer from Gonzaga, he knew he had to return to his LA roots in order to pursue his passion. Catch this celebrity skating around campus, ballin’ in the gym, or gearing up for some major acting auditions.

Tell us about the role you just landed.

“I can’t disclose too many details about the show, but I will be playing a mean- spirited teenager in a few episodes of Murder in the First on TNT. Filming starts this week, and I’m really excited because it is my first major role on television.”

What is your most embarrassing story when it comes to Acting?

“I began acting in elementary school. Every year, the fifth grade class did a Shakespeare play, and I played Macbeth in Macbeth. In one of the well-known scenes, he sees a dagger floating in the air, and it hit me in the face mid-scene.”

What is your ideal role?

“For me, I would feel like I made it if I got to play Spiderman. This has been one of my life-long dreams since I was 2-years old. When I was young and living in New York, I would wear a Spiderman costume everywhere, even to bed.”

Do you find it difficult to balance school and acting?

“Yes, extremely. Although I am a theatre major, it is still very difficult to balance school and acting. It may not be the same as a regular education were you are memorizing facts and history, but you still have to constantly be memorizing a lot of lines, which is just as hard – if not harder. The industry can definitely take an emotional toll.”

What is your pre-performance pump up song?

“Hmm, good question. Right now, I would have to say “Fire Squad” by J. Cole really gets me focused and in the zone. An all-time favorite of mine is “D.A.N.C.E” by Justice.”

Who is your celebrity crush?

“That’s a hard one. I’d have to say it’s a tie between Zooey Deschanel and Olivia Wilde.”
