Campus Celebrity: Nicole Zotovich

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

It takes a real strong woman to take on the responsibility of president of a new sorority chapter, which is why Nicole Zotovich was right for the job.  Nicole leads the newly installed Kappa Phi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega with poise and drive.

What year and major are you?

“I am currently finishing up my junior year of college and I double major in Women Studies and History!”

What made you want to join and get involved with Alpha Chi Omega?

One of the main reasons why I wanted to get involve with Alpha Chi Omega was because as a spring transfer student, I did not rush the first semester I was here so I could focus on my grades. Then in the fall, Alyssa Anderson (the chapter consultant) contacted me and I learned what Alpha Chi was all about, and it just felt right. That sounds so cheesy, but it honestly is true. There are many reasons why I wanted to join.  First, my sister was an Alpha Chi Omega so I thought it would be really cool to share that sisterhood with her. Second, I wanted to be more involved not only in LMU’s community, but also with the Greek Community on campus. Third, I wanted to make an impact on this campus, and have that home away from home feeling and have that sisterhood bond. Also one of my majors is Women Studies, and Alpha Chi raises awareness for Domestic Violence, so I am extremely passionate about women’s rights, and raising awareness.”

What has been the hardest part of being the president of a new chapter?

“There are many challenges to being the president of a new chapter. One that I think is the most important is being able to manage my time equally with school and the sorority. School always comes first, however at the same time I want to be the best president I can be for Alpha Chi.”

How has it been becoming a new leader in LMU’s Greek Life?  Has there been support shown for the newest sorority?

“It has been an amazing experience! I have learned so many new leadership skills within the last couple of months that I will remember for my whole life. The Greek community as a whole is amazing, and they have giving me so much love and support. Everyone is so nice, and always willing to help out or give advice. It has only been a couple of months, but I cannot wait to work with everyone in the fall.”

When you’re not incredibly busy being president and with school, what do you like to do in your free time?

“Well I do have a part time job that I love. I work downtown in a law firm, Brown White & Osborn! I am excited to work there in the summer and pick up more hours. I also love to run, it’s a great way for me to release my stress while getting a good workout. Also, like everyone else my age, I love hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, exploring and hiking around LA.”

Are there any fun facts you want people to know about you?

“My nickname is Zotes, I am the youngest of six, and I foster dogs so if anyone is looking to adopt a dog in the summer I will be fostering a couple of puppies. I also love to rap which people think is a joke at first, but in all honestly I still kind of think I will make it big in the rap world one day, but until then I will stick to school. My favorite word is “nurdle” which is hard to explain or understand unless you hang out with me and I am obsessed with the color red!”
