Snack time is essential. What better way to refuel than puppy chow? Puppy chow got its name because it resembles dog food in its appearance, but I like to look at it as small, sugary pillows of goodness. Beware, as this snack is extremely addicting; one bite and you will absolutely be hooked. It’s also a great snack because it can be made gluten free – I like to think of this as the “healthy” factor. You can also use any incorporate any kind of nut-butter: peanut, almond, cashew, or whichever you most prefer. Puppy chow is truly the best combination of chocolate and peanut butter in a crunchy snack. Perfect for little gifts and your sweet tooth! Enjoy :)

Ingredients:

9 cups Rice/Corn Chex cereal (gluten free)

½ cup peanut butter/almond butter/cashew butter

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

ÂĽ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Directions:

Measure cereal into large bowl and set aside. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in the microwave or in a double broiler. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. Once chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter are well combined, mix in the vanilla extract. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal, stirring until completely coated. Add the confectioners’ sugar and mix until well coated. Make sure you mix gently to prevent from breaking apart the cereal. Store in Tupperware or a sealed bowl.
