Autumn has actually come around this week in Southern California- who knew? Okay I get it- it’s still 70 degrees on average in the day, but I will take what I can get (even if that means I sweat in my scarves and sweaters in order to rebel against the weather). Though, to be honest, these outfits were not as heat entrapping as you would think and are absolutely valid for LA’s “overcast weather”.
Bright side, it’s cold enough for sweaters and the beginnings of my favorite part of fall fashion- layers and boots!Â
For our “basic girl” theme this week, I have found that in order to just add a little extra to the simplicity of the style I’ve decided to incorporate a fall theme into the mix by sprucing up the look with a touch of plaid. So, I guess you can say these outfits have a mix of both East Coast preppy and West Coast basic brought together in the beautiful city of Los Angeles.
*I am aware of the quality of photos but this just goes to show how spontaneous photo-shoots can be anywhere and how an outfit can still shine (even in a dorm)
Outfit #1: Black on Black. On this day, I decided to go with an outfit that most girls can relate to- the all black. I know most people either love or hate this trend, so instead I put my own spin on it and created a grayscale color scheme that keeps the simplicity while mixing things up a bit.
Includes: Gray crop top + High waist black leggings + Black and white cardigan sweater + Grey boots + Plaid black scarf
Outfit #2: Just a Little Maroon. This one has a little more color to it with a lighter look for the season.
Includes: Camel colored sweater shirt + Maroon pants + Plaid maroon scarf + High Knee Camel Colored Boots
Outfit #3: To play this outfit down a little more with a more casual vibe, I chose a simple white t-shirt that simultaneously shares my love for Selena Gomez, while playing down the preppy outerwear.
Includes: Plain white t-shirt + Black leggings + Green plaid jacket + Black hat+ Black booties
Outfit #4: This incorporates the same element of plaid with the scarf while making it an easy outfit with a sweater dress and scarf.
Includes: Black sweater dress + Black leggings + Knee-high camel boots + Black plaid scarf + Maroon and blue hat
Outfit #5: Going back to dressing down plaid outerwear with a white t-shirt, I incorporated the same formula but switched out the hat accessory for a scarf in this particular ensemble.
