I have watched a lot of TV in quarantine. Like, an unhealthy amount. While I re-watched a lot of my favorite comfort shows, I also stumbled on some new favorites that I think deserve more attention. Here are 6 shows I feel you should give a chance following your post-Emmy sweep Schitt’s Creek re-watch.

 1. The Duchess

With only six episodes, you could finish the entire first season in an afternoon. While I think it has been overshadowed by Emily In Paris, The Duchess is definitely worth a watch. The show follows single mom Katherine, a self-proclaimed hot mess, on her journey raising her nine-year-old daughter, Olive, while trying to have another baby. I somehow managed to both hate and love Katherine. It gave me major Gilmore Girls vibes and I think if you can love Lorelai and Rory despite their flaws, you’ll adore Katherine and Olive too.

2. Down to Earth with Zac Efron

Half travel documentary, half Zac Efron thirst trap, what could go wrong? This show got a little bit of attention a couple months ago when it premiered for the scene of Zac Efron eating carbs for the first time in years. However, this show has so much more to offer. I watched this with my parents, and we all loved it. It taught us a lot about the world around us and was super interesting. Heartwarming, funny, and educational, I promise Down to Earth will have you falling in love with Zac Efron all over again.

3. Pen15

If you have ever been a middle school girl, DROP EVERYTHING AND WATCH THIS SHOW. Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle play fictional versions of their middle school selves and it is everything. The perfect balance between nostalgia and downright secondhand embarrassment, they encapsulate everything essential to the middle school experience. It is funny and heartwarming and has made me cry on several occasions. I just watched the entire second season in one night and can’t wait for season three to drop. Definitely will make you thankful you’re no longer in middle school and beyond grateful for all of the best friends you have made along the way.

4. Difficult People

Truly one of the funniest shows I have ever seen but it is super rare for me to meet someone who has seen it! Criminally underrated, this show follows Julie and Billy, two struggling comedians who seem to hate everyone but each other. I think everything Billy Eichner touches turns to comedy gold and this show is no exception. However, if that’s not enough for you, look out for appearances by other comedy legends, such as Fred Armisen, Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, Kate McKinnon, John Mulaney, and Jane Krakowski.

5. Community

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t super into Community the first time I tried to watch it. However, this summer my brother started it and I decided to give it another go. We finished all six seasons in two weeks. The sitcom follows the seven members of an eclectic community college study group and their misadventures. Packed with lots of one-liners, character development, and special episodes, Community is always entertaining and the perfect show to distract you from everything currently going on in the world.

6. High Fidelity

This show was among one of my first quarantine binges and despite it being months I’m still thinking about it. Zoe Kravitz plays Rob, a pretentious music lover telling the story of her lifetime of failed relationships who you love to hate and hate to love. It has a killer soundtrack and serves as some major fashion inspiration. Not necessarily a feel-good show, but definitely a good relationship drama.
