5 Reasons Why We Bandwagon During the Superbowl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

If we are honest, most people who haven’t been keeping up with football during regular season only watch the Super Bowl for namely several reasons, all of which make people feel like they’re finally part of the cool crowd back in high school.

1. The Hype- you don’t have to own a jersey to be a part of the commotion and take part in the party. All you really need to do to understand the game is just ask all the people who know what’s happening anyway (because we all know google isn’t going to be any help) and then you can hop right on the cheers and jeers at people you only know because you can read the names at the back of their jerseys.

2. The Halftime Show- From Beyonce to Bruno Mars to this year’s Lady Gaga, the Super Bowl never fails to impress and this year was no exception. Jumping from the roof with a backdrop of drones in the sky projecting the American flag, performing her greatest hits with the coordination of lights and dance (even with audience members) and impressing millions of individuals live and on screen with a powerhouse voice and a dominant mic drop

3. To Participate in the Day After Conversations- whether you only watch football once or twice a year for the Super Bowl and the Rosebowl or are a committed pigskin fanatic, the day after talk about one of the biggest Super Bowl Sundays of the year can be just as trending as Beyonce having twins. So, for those who aren’t as involved in the football world, the Super Bowl is a time to collect information for the next day so that you’ll be up to date and look like you know what you’re talking about.

4. The Lottery- Now I’m fairly sure that people wouldn’t mind getting a twenty dollar return on a five dollar investment. And that’s the minimum. Also, if you’re not invested in a particular team, then you still have a chance of benefitting from the game even if you’re not watching. Though, I must say that the winner should be present in order to claim their money.

5. An Excuse to Drink- most Sunday nights people are just preparing for the painful routine of the next day, trying to hold on to the visages of the night they have left. However, Super Bowl Sunday changes all of that and gives an excuse for people to throw down even more than any other Sunday night football.
